Ryan Chase: Press

"...beautiful scoring for all three instruments. The first movement, Aversio, was dissonant and jagged, with jazz elements noticeable throughout. The second movement, Retorqueo, began with mysterious clusters of tones on the piano that soon exploded into a dramatic cadenza. The string harmonics were wonderfully effective against the piano tone clusters. This movement created a lovely mood, and especially effective was the quiet and mysterious ending. The final movement, Conversio, took us back to the jazz rhythms on the piano with some exciting clusters in the extreme bass and treble that exploded into a wild frenzy. This was a powerful and moving work."
