My woodwind quintet, the filaments dance, was awarded first prize in the 2010 NACUSA Young Composers' Competition. It will be programmed on the next NACUSA National Concert.
Albany Symphony

Arcade Glitch was selected as one of three winning pieces in the Albany Symphony's 2011 Composer to Center Stage Competition.
The piece will be publicly read in May by David Alan Miller and the Albany Symphony Orchestra.

Ariadne Greif and Contemporaneous (NY's new, hip, student-run new music ensemble) will premiere JABBERWOCKY! in April under the baton of David Bloom. It should be quirky, weird fun. See the calendar for details.
Also, the Musical Arts Youth Orchestra will perform Arcade Glitch in a live playoff on January 24 at Bloomington HS North to determine the winner of the 2010-2011 MAYO Composition Competition.

IU Dean's Prize

lost coast (2010) for string quartet was awarded the 2010 Dean's Prize (Category B- Chamber/Ensemble) by the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. The prize includes a commission for the IU New Music Ensemble which will be premiered in their 2010/2011 season.

the filaments dance was selected to be performed at the 2010 Foro Internacional de Música Nueva Manuel Enríquez in Mexico City. The piece will be performed by the Mexico City Woodwind Quintet during the festival, which runs from May 23 to June 6.

"night, good and sweet night" was awarded First Prize for this year's Jean Schneider Goberman Competition.
The piece will receive its world premiere on April 13th at Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall at 2 pm by the Alaria Trio.

/perc/vln/cello will be premiered at the Mannes Concert Hall on Thursday; May 3, 2007 on a program to feature 2004 Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Moravec.

A project to collaborate with percussionist Dan Galliher on "perspectra" for three percussionists and tape has been greenlighted by James Petercsak; head of the percussion faculty at the Crane School of Music. The piece is slated for a premiere by the Crane Percussion Ensemble in Fall 2006 at Potsdam. More details as events unfold.

Ryan will return for a second summer at California Summer Music from July 8 - August 1. He has abdicated his position as Musical Director of Colonie Youth Theatre.
2006 NYAE Competition

Ryan has been awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2006 National New York Art Ensemble Composers' Competition. "Augustinian Odyssey", the work submitted, was one of three pieces to make the final jury.
